Hokkaido: Summer & Chéri

Hokkaido: Summer & Chéri

Hokkaido in summer is very comfortable like in Europe, nice shiny not humid at all. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and the summer events such as Sapporo City Jazz. It was also a good timing to have our friend from Osaka and to give her a tour in Sapporo. The most place we appreciated the summer was at the camp in Muroran city. We encountered a school of dolphins that was rare after having a typhoon. And we also encountered a huge outbreak of winged ants at the camping site that only happens when there is a drastic change in temperature in summer. “I asked you so many times if…

Singapore: Heat’n Humidity & Chéri

Singapore for 3 nights journey with the low cost flights by AirAsia. We only had 2 whole days for sightseeing but met with my British friend after a few years, visited many places such as Litte Indea and Gardens by the Bay and enjoyed the delicious “Chili Crabs” at JUMBO. Although, the heat and humidity of the outside was more than what we thought. It was unbearable for mon chéri from Europe of course, and even for me who grew up in the humid Japan. Cloud Forest in Gardens by the Bay was really nice to cool ourselves down and to get relaxed. It really felt as we escaped to…

Taiwan: Taipei & Chéri

Taiwan: Taipei & Chéri

Taipei (台北) is one of a few foreign countries where has a direct flight from Sapporo. It is a country with influence of Buddhism like Japan, the temples in Taiwan are more colorfully decorated. Lóngshān Sì (龍山寺), the oldest temple in Taipei, was very artistic with the dragon decorations everywhere. Taiwanese food was also hăo (好: good). Dumplings (小籠包: xiǎolóngbāo) at the restaurant Kāo Chì (高記) and Taiwanese burger Guàbāo (刈包) at Shìlín Yèshì (士林夜市) were delicious. We didn’t have enough brave to eat stinky tofu (臭豆腐: shūdōfu) though… Lóngshān Sì (龍山寺) in Taipei, Taiwan, May 2018 Reference – Tourism Bureau, Republic of China (Taiwan) – Taipei Travel

Hokkaido: Snowman & Chéri

Hokkaido: Snowman & Chéri

Sapporo is the biggest city in Hokkaido, the northernmost prefecture in Japan. We moved there from Tokyo for my chéri’s job in the beginning of 2017. In the East Asian traditional lunisolar calendar, spring is considered to come in February (立春: risshun in Japanese or lìchūn in Chinese). But the snow still remained a lot in Sapporo even in March. Mt. Moiwa is famous for its beautiful view, especially after sunset. We visited there during the daytime (because it was very cold!) and played with snow after enjoying the view. Though I gave up quite early, my chéri kept rolling the snowball and made a big snowman in the end.…
